New Trustee for the National Portrait Gallery

David Cameron has appointed Rob Dickins as a Trustee for the National Portrait Gallery for a term of four years, running from 1 June 2016 to 31 May 2020. Born in the East End of London, Rob Dickins has had an extensive​ ​career in the music industry as Chair of Warner Music UK and as Chair of the industry body, the BPI. In 2002 he was awarded a CBE for services to music.

His interest in Art & Design​ ​led him to become a Trustee of the V&A Museum ​where he also sat on the board of V&A Enterprises​. Rob was a founding Trustee and a principal fund-raiser for Youth Music. He is a longtime supporter and Trustee of ‘Watts Gallery - Artists’ Village’, dedicated to the work of the Victorian artist and visionary G.F. Watts and his wife Mary. He ​​donated a collection of over 4,000 19th Century photographs ​to the Gallery depicting the lives of Victorian artists.

He recently retired as Chair of The Theatres Trust and is a Trustee of ‘Handel & Hendrix in London’. Rob lectures in music and art history, is a visiting Professor at London Metropolitan University and the University of the Arts, London. He is also a guest lecturer at Berklee College of Music in Valencia.
