Diversity UK partners with the UK Welcomes Modi campaign

Diversity UK is pleased to have become a welcome partner to the UKWelcomesModi campaign that is coordinating the highly anticipated visit to the UK of the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. This will give Diversity UK members the opportunity to register for free tickets to the event on Friday 13th November 2015 at Wembley Stadium in London.

"We are pleased to have been given Welcome Partner status as a secular, non-faith based organisation campaigning for equality and inclusion" said Dilip Joshi MBE, Trustee of Diversity UK "and we hope that members will welcome the opportunity to hear directly from the democratically elected Prime Minister of India, one of the world's most populous and diverse nations."

With over a billion people, India is the world's second most populous nation behind China and seventeenth in the list of countries ranked by ethnic and cultural diversity level. Britain's largest Indian diaspora in the world is eagerly waiting to deliver the loudest, greatest and most vibrant welcome Narendra Modi has seen outside of his home nation by booking out Wembley Stadium in London. The Olympic size stadium which has a capacity of 90,000 will bring together individuals from the 1.6 million-strong Indian community in Britain - from all backgrounds, generations and regions – to celebrate two great nations with one glorious future.

Coinciding with Diwali, the annual festival of lights, this year, the UKWelcomesModi campaign will feature a cultural showcase of the best of Indian and British talent; a landmark speech to be delivered by Prime Minister Modi and a grand finale featuring the biggest fireworks display in the whole country. In September last year, Mr Modi packed out Madison Square Garden in New York with a barnstorming speech for 19,000 Indian Americans before being invited to visit Barack Obama at the White House.

UKWelcomesModi pays tribute to the deep ties between India and the UK, highlighting the formidable contribution made by members of the Indian diaspora in all walks of British life. Prime Minister Modi’s already iconic leadership has made waves across the world.

The event is being organised by the Europe India Forum and in partnership with Indian cultural and community organisations across the country. The Europe India Forum is a not for profit organisation promoting Europe-India relations for communities, by communities.

Diversity UK Members have until 11.59pm on 18th September 2015 to register for free tickets - click here to register, you will need the organisation code sent to members via email. To join or renew membership to Diversity UK, please sign-up here.
