Suzy Walton appointed to HEFCE Board

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) today (6th December 2012) announced that  Suzy Walton has been appointed as a new member of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) Board. The HEFCE promotes and funds high quality, cost-effective teaching and research, meeting the diverse needs of students, the economy and society. Suzy Walton is a chartered scientist, a chartered occupational psychologist and a chartered director. She has a portfolio of board roles and over a decade’s experience in central government.

About Suzy Walton

Suzy Walton is Deputy Chairman of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), of the University of Westminster and of the Internet Watch Foundation which regulates the internet against some aspects of criminality.  She is also on the board of the veterans’ mental health charity Combat Stress, and sits on several government committees including the Ethics Group of the National DNA Database (Home Office) and the National Specialist Commissioning Group (Department of Health). Previously she was on the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’s Science Advisory Council.

Suzy Walton has over a decade’s experience as a senior civil servant and has served in the Cabinet Office, the Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit and the Ministry of Defence.
